Remake

Trying out a new format for easier reading and to squash some pesky quirks about the old format that were driving me bananas. May still be experimenting, so if it’s like Kubrick’s stargate here for the next couple of days, I promise you won’t end up in a space bedroom.

Don’t worry, I tried several formats before I settled on the one I have now. And I’m still not 100% happy with it. Anyhow, I wanted to tell that I thoroughly enjoy your site. It’s a great idea to organize your movie viewing. In the case of a director, you get to see the artist’s growth (or deterioration) right before your eyes. I hope you select some of my favorites filmmakers (Sam Peckinpah, David Cronenberg, Billy Wilder, Preston Sturges, etc.) for the projects. Again, great work!

Hey, thanks for stopping by. I’ve definitely got all of those guys on my radar, but I’m more likely to tackle Cronenberg or Peckinpah than Wilder, at least in the short term. One of the first guys I started circling was Michael Curtiz, but I had to rule him out because of the sheer volume of films he churned out on the studio lot, a huge number of which are lost or unavailable today. Wilder has got the same problem, and so does Fritz Lang, Murneau, and a ton of guys from that era. Maybe I should do an “essentials” feature and just count down the top 10 or so from some of these guys. Hmm…

I like your site, especially the striking screenshots you always manage. Nice work!
